ALIGNMED is a firm that manufactures a vast line of shoes and accessories for orthotics. The company was started by a former pro quarterback to help give athletes a boost on and off the field.
The same firm makes the ALIGNMED Capri Yoga Pants. I'm a little skeptical of company claims like, "no compression" and "total freedom of movement", but I thought I'd give them a shot.
The Fit and Feel
The ALIGNMED Capri Yoga Pants fit exceptionally well for Capri pants. I've tried on many different brands of active pants, and these fit the most snug out of the bunch. The fabric is composed of nylon and spandex and is very lightweight. The pants are designed with a laser-cut 3D artwork design, which is a nice cosmetic touch. They aren't quite as comfortable as active pants that cost twice as much, but these do a fine job.
Wearing the pants feels very free and relaxed, like you are wearing a pair of boxer shorts. That might sound like a good thing, but it made the pants hard to put on and take off because you have to pull them up over your calves to get them on. I dread getting clothes stuck in the toes of my shoes. That really detracts from the utility of some pants.
The Fit and Comfort
I've worn these pants for two runs, one 5K and one 10K. In both cases, the pants fit great and feel great. I really do feel like I have total freedom of movement.
This freedom of movement makes putting the pants on easier than normal. After running in the diaper-esque, snug-fitting sweatpants that I normally wear to runs, putting these pants on was nice and easy.
For the record, I'm 5'11" and weigh about 180 pounds. I've always been a middle-of-the-road runner, so I didn't really find the waist size of these pants to be exceptionally tight. Also, I found them to be snug in the calves. They aren't restrictive, but they don't allow for much stretching.
The Pants Are Great for Yoga
I've worn the AlignMed Capri Yoga Pants for yoga now a few times. My first pair of yoga pants was a pair of Lululemon pants, and in comparison, the AlignMed pants are far more comfortable.
