Today we're bringing to you our detailed review of the Gentle Yoga: 7 Beginning Yoga Practices.
We’ll provide you with all the detailed information you could need. You just need to make your own final decision.
- Designed for midlife practitioners
- Comprehensive program with varied practices
- All levels included
- tip: We no longer recommend this book after learning the publisher bought a Yoga studio so they could target the yoga market. Essentially, they teach and sell yoga to the elderly. The best bet is to look for a local class or see if the local YMCA has any yoga options.
My favorite of all books and videos for yoga is Yoga Nidra: The yogic sleep meditation and transpersonal consciousness. This book shares the inner peace and relaxation that this practice leads to, and does so in a way that is gentle enough for anyone to incorporate.
In the gentle yoga book, you can learn to meditate, stretch and combine it with balancing poses. These practices are all gentle enough to be done by anyone, and the stretches in the later chapters are fantastic for someone with tight hips and a sore lower back.
Gentle Yoga includes breathing exercises and some principles for healthy living in general. The chapter on energy management is particularly good and it describes what energy is and how to increase it and clear it.
Although I think Yoga Nidra is the best yoga experience you can have, I feel this book is probably the most gentle, yet comprehensive yoga experience for the post-50-year-old, or anyone else who may have sensitive hips or lower back pain.
