Today's review is going to look at the The Hollywood Trainer.
It’s been popular on the market ever since it was launched and so we decided to take a closer look at it for you. Here we go:
Pros:
- With a running time of 1 hour and 45 minutes, it is a long yoga DVD
- The video comes with a an instructional tutorial
- The yoga workout is good for both beginners and intermediate users
- The low price on this yoga DVD
Cons:
- The instructor is a beginner, so the quality is not as good as it could be
- The camera angles are not the best
- The code is only viewable on a PC and not a TV
- The DVD stops in the final pose of the backbend, then on the next screen the instructor gives instruction for a different sequence
Yoga is a great way to keep your body and mind healthy, and The Hollywood Trainer DVD presents the perfect introduction to the ancient practice of yoga through the addition of a well-chosen yoga instructional video.
A number of DVDs help complement this blend of yoga instruction and video-style tips and tricks. The program is divided into eight sections with two workouts per section. The workouts consist of a five-minute warm-up and a 15-minute stretching section, followed by a five-minute cool-down and a five-minute simple pose to savor.
The workouts incorporate a selection of basic poses. You'll move your body to different positions while a trainer provides an appropriate breathing technique to make the workout effective and safe. Each pose is shown from multiple angles that add depth and clarity to the instructions. At certain points, the trainer will also demonstrate a mindfulness technique to help you focus on the present moment throughout the workout.
You'll work on alignment, flexibility, breathing techniques, and control, as well as muscle tone and definition. If you're not a yoga fan, Yoga for Beginners will give you a great introduction to the practice.
The workouts on standalone DVDs generally just include the stretching portion of the workout. They're not bad, but they could have been much better if the workouts had been planned out a bit more.
Because the videos are found on DVD, you can play them in a DVD-compatible player at home instead of on a computer or smart TV. This gives a better picture quality with sharper colors and a more fluid image. Although you can still play the workout DVDs on a computer, the picture quality is lower or nonexistent.
The workouts are enjoyable and they provide a nice, mellow, stretching workout that will keep you in tune with some of the basic yoga positions. A number of other videos are available as well, so you have plenty of options to choose from and to find one that suits your needs.
The workouts are filmed in high-definition, giving your yoga instruction a lot more clarity and setting the stage for a complete yoga experience. The program is divided into eight sections with one workout in each.
The workouts lack a narrative or story, so this might be a problem if you're looking for something more in the direction of a video-style workout. If you can get past this, however, you'll have fun watching yourself during the workouts.
