Why Do Yoga Pants Get Stretched ?
Yoga practitioners can wear their yoga pants a lifetime. You might have to wait a few weeks to get your yoga pants in the official size you need because there are no waste patterns. The pants are cut from a roll and will be perfect every time without having to cut the leg length shorter.
Yoga pants are designed to fit your body perfectly. While designing the pants, the thinking is what would the most beautiful body look like. After taking into account the width and length of the thighs, the girth of the hips, the small of the back, and the size and firmness of the glutes the yoga pants will be designed in the most flattering way to fit this figure.
But over time, the yoga pants will loosen up. It starts with going to class on any given night or simply wearing them, like they belong, around the house on a daily basis. The tightness of the yoga pants isn’t going to stay the same. As they rebound back to an ordinary state, you might find yourself wishing there was a little bit more of a tuck in the waistband. But this is where your imagination and creativity comes into play. There are so many hacks out there that you can utilize to make those yoga pants a little tighter.
How To Make Yoga Pants Tighter ? Detailed Tips and Tricks
Yoga pants can get very loose over time. I have tested several of the following ideas to make your yoga pants fit better.
Method 1
Take a long sleeve shirt and button it up. Put on your yoga pants. Put a long sleeved shirt over the yoga pants. Zip the sleeves at the wrist holes. Wear the shirt like a bib.
Pull tight on the sleeves where they're bound to the pants. Wa-la! Tighter pants with less effort.
Sewing your Yoga Pants Tighter (Legs)
We all had those days when laziness kicks in and we feel like wearing our yoga pants, which are feeling just a small bit too loose for our personal liking. Do not fret, there are a couple of valuable tricks to tighten your yoga pants. By the way, we are talking about your favorite, stretchy, yoga-pants (the ones that start all the way down at your ankle or ankle-high style). No one needs to see how well you're taking care of that butt.
The easiest way to achieve a tighter feel is to sew together the seams of the yoga pants rather than get rid of them. The legs will feel tighter.
Pre-wash your pants and turn them inside out. Lay them on your flat surface. Decide approximately where you want to make the cut to sew them together. You may want to make it close to the knee or maybe above the thickest part of your calf. You can measure the difference if you'd like, and simply match your cut to the measurement. Make your cut in the fabric.

If they’re too snug, yoga pants can feel restrictive. One of the most effective remedies for tight pants is to wear them as you would a pair of long underwear.
This allows you to move freely and comfortably.
Instead of pulling up the pants, use a tight underwear. The flexibility that a tight underwear gives you also helps you to move more freely, which is a bonus for your workout and overall health. This also helps you to avoid having the pants falling off your hips that makes your workout uncomfortable or even unsafe.
2.
Choose Cotton Bio-Warm friendly fibers are a lot more pleasant to touch. Their elasticity and comfy touch are great for warm days.
Purchase High Quality Yoga Pants If you invest in quality yoga pants you won’t have to manually adjust pants after each use. You’ll also have a great pair of pants for around the house or workouts.
3.
Shrink Them!
Yes. It’s possible. You can shrink your yoga pants with a hot washing machine cycle. Make sure you have some sort of washing design system in place, so you don’t accidentally shrink all your clothes!
First, wash the yoga pants by themselves, in cold water and with a mild detergent. When the pants come out of the washer, hang them and let them air dry.
After a few days, or once the pants are dry, wash them in the hot water setting again. Hang them to dry.
This “hot wash, air dry” method will shrink them down and reduce any odors that may have developed after wearing them.
4.
Although Yoga is an excellent exercise to improve your health and stamina, it is not the most effective way of burning fat. The poses in Yoga target entire body, not only bulges of it.
Any exercise program should include cardio and strength training, to be effective.
5.
Yoga pants are known for "stretching after use". This is especially the case for the ones with the "mixed material" (ie. the ones that have a spandex/polyester/cotton blend).
Those pants will "stretch" significantly over time and the best way to amend this is to just 'sew' the seams back together. This way the pants will be tight and more resistant to stretching.
Just do it carefully, so you don't leave any visible stitches.
Method 2
More Tie Dye
One great way you can tighten the waistband of your yoga pants is more tie dye. Keeping them tied up at the side is the number one reason for trouble in yoga pants. If your yoga pants still need a little smidgen of tightness at the waist, try inverting the elastic and sewing another knot that looks like this:

The challenge: You want your yoga gear to fit better, be a little more supportive and be more flattering.
The answer: You are not alone on this dilemma, many, many (nearly all) women would love to find a way to make their Yoga pants stay up and to make them have a more flattering cut.
Believe it or not, every tip here can be used on regular pants (or shorts) as well as on your yoga gear. Do you wonder why I wrote this tip? The reason is I'm a huge fan of yoga but the kind of yoga that I do requires some street clothes so, when I wear my yoga gear I want it to fit as well as possible and look as flattering as possible.
// Use the waistband fold. Some yoga pants have an elastic waistband and some have a stretchy fabric. In any case, if you find yourself tugging at the waistband, fold it over once or twice (doesn't matter which way), and this will create more slack in the waist for a more comfortable fit.
// Another option is to gently pull the waistband down at the back. If you're wearing them low, the waistband may ride up and give the appearance of a muffin top.
