This article was thoroughly audited by our experts for its accuracy.
Pros:
- Premium quality
- Eco-friendly
- Chemical free and non-toxic
- Designed to withstand wear and tear
- Heavyweight
- Ultra-dense cushioning
- High grade quality
Cons:
- Somewhat heavy
- Bit pricey
The Manduka PRO Yoga Mat's thickness is a good 9.5mm with a high-density core that is made from closed-cell EVA foam.
The PRO is also ultra-dense and that's what makes for an awesome grip. It's quite hard and firm, making the PRO mat an incredible surface to get some serious traction on.
Of course, it's a bit on the heavier side, so if you're looking for something lighter, check out the PRO LITE, which is a fraction of the thickness but equally durable.
While some people swear by their 4mm thickness, I'm not really a huge fan of them. I find that a lot of those mats are a bit slippery when you sweat on them. This can be a pretty significant issue if you're trying to get some of those more advanced moves like the crow.
My recommendation? Go with a heavier mat (8-9mm) if you want to get more stability and a deeper grip. Try a lighter mat if you're looking for something a bit lighter to travel with.
Either way, you should be safe to get some amazing yoga and/or Pilates sessions with the PRO.
